Old partner kept pushing boilerplate terms on every client. Lost us a $40k deal in Dallas.

Is it just me or does that same thing happen everywhere now? Like even when I'm ordering coffee sometimes I feel like the person behind the counter is just reading off a script instead of actually listening to what I want. I mean sure boilerplate saves time but if you're not careful you end up making people feel like they don't matter. That deal probably would have gone through if the client felt heard even a little bit. Just seems like common sense but I guess common sense isn't so common these days.

Sucks to lose that kind of money over something so avoidable (stupid boilerplate crap). You gotta let clients feel like you actually see their specific situation, not just a template.

Got any examples of template fails that cost you a deal?
