Just had a client try to sneak a non-compete into our standard SOW

I caught it on page 14 buried in the definitions section. Anyone else seeing agencies get burned by inserting restrictive clauses without negotiation?

Page 14 in the definitions section is like hiding a landmine in a salad, classic move lol. Bet they thought you'd just skim past it like everyone else does with the fine print. Gotta love clients who treat a standard SOW like a game of hide and seek.

Actually, calling it page 14 "in the definitions section" is a little off. Most standard SOWs, the definitions are usually right at the beginning, like page 2 or 3, not buried on 14. If it's on 14, that's probably an exhibit or appendix, not the main definitions part. I've seen clients sneak stuff into the "Scope of Work" definitions where they say "deliverables includes all revisions" which means unlimited changes. That's the real landmine, not the page number itself. Have you run into that kind of wording before?

Right, because nothing says "trusted partnership" like hiding a bomb in the fine print on page 14. Guess they figured if you didn't find it, you'd just get a free surprise lawsuit.
