Had to choose between a retainer fee and hourly billing for my first big client back in 2018
I went with the retainer because I was scared of scope creep after a nightmare project in Phoenix, but I underbid by about $400 a month and spent six months playing catch-up. Anyone else regret locking in a flat rate too early?

Oh man, $400 a month hurts to even read. I did the same thing with my first retainer in 2019 and it took me a year to dig out of that hole. Scope creep is brutal when you lock yourself in early.
