Am I the only one who thinks non-disclosure agreements are overused in small agencies?

I see folks in this community pushing NDAs for every client meeting we take, but in my experience running a 5 person shop in Austin for the last 3 years, they just scare off small business owners who don't have lawyers on retainer. Half the time the stuff they're trying to protect is public info you can find on their website anyway. Has anyone else had clients bail after you asked them to sign a standard NDA?

NDAs for a 5 person shop feels like overkill (and a little pretentious, honestly). Most small biz owners just want a handshake and a fair price, not legal paperwork.

Read a study once that found most NDAs just waste time for small shops like ours.
