A guy at a garage sale told me my old toys were just junk, and he was kind of right
I had my 1980s Transformers and He-Man figures in a Rubbermaid bin for 20 years thinking they were treasure, but he said nobody pays for loose, played-with toys. Now I just keep the two that meant something to me and let the rest go. What piece from your childhood did you finally decide was okay to part with?
Ah yes, the garage sale guy, the unpaid appraiser of our childhoods who somehow always knows best. Mine was my old comic book pile. I had maybe 200 issues and figured I was sitting on a gold mine until a guy at a flea market explained that no, a creased Spawn #1 with a water stain is not retirement money. Turns out the one truly valuable book was the one my mom tossed when I was at camp, which is a very funny joke the universe likes to play. The rest I sold for about enough to buy lunch, and honestly the lunch was great. Getting the bin out of my parents' attic was the real prize.
