Told my 15 year old niece TikTok dances were lazy, then she made me learn the actual footwork at a BBQ in San Antonio
I've been pretty loud about how those viral dances look like people just waving their arms around, and I told my niece exactly that at a family BBQ in San Antonio back in August. She didn't argue with me, she just pulled up a tutorial and told me to try the one everybody was doing at her school, and I figured fine, 30 seconds. Twenty minutes later I was sweating through my shirt in her grandma's backyard and could not get my hips and feet to agree on anything, and the worst part was she counted me in out loud and I was a full beat behind every time. My brother in law filmed it and I have watched it 40 times trying to find a moment where I look cool, and there isn't one. I still think some of these trends are goofy, but I was wrong that it's easy, because the footwork is real and nobody talks about that part. Now I need to know, has anyone over 30 actually gotten one of these down, or do we all just look like a folding chair in a windstorm?
