Shoutout to the 14 year old at my niece's birthday who got me to try the 'Renegade' dance in my kitchen
I figured the TikTok dances were all hype, so when my niece dared me at her party in Fresno last weekend I said fine, show me the moves. The kid walked me through it step by step and I got the whole thing down in about 20 minutes, which shocked me more than anyone. My knees hurt for two days after, but my niece posted the video and it got 3,000 views, mostly from her friends laughing. Now I'm wondering if I should learn the next one or just retire while I'm ahead, so what dances have you all tried that didn't end in a pulled muscle?
Learning the "Savage" dance from my cousin took me maybe 15 minutes and the moves are way easier on the knees (mostly arm stuff and a little bounce, no deep squats). The "Say So" one is another good starter since it's just a lot of hip sway and hand motions. Stay away from anything with a lot of floor work or jumping splits unless you want to ice your whole body after. My rule now is if the kid teaching me has to sit down to catch their breath, I'm out. Retirement is for quitters, just pick the low impact ones.
