My DVR cut off the last 10 seconds of the 1998 Budweiser "Whassup" ad and I spent 3 hours hunting the full version

Last Tuesday I was going through an old VHS tape I digitized for a friend in Cleveland, and the Budweiser "Whassup" spot from 1998 stopped right as the guys were yelling the punchline. I checked the timer and saw the tape ran out at 5:47pm, exactly 10 seconds before the ad ended. I spent the next three hours digging through old ad blogs and YouTube uploads from 2007 until I found the full 30 second version with the phone call part intact. Turns out the version most people remember is the shortened 15 second cut, and the long one has a whole extra scene with the dog. Did any of you keep old tapes like this, or am I the only one still checking the timer on a VCR?
