Dropped $150 on that Plop Plop Fizz Fizz Alka Seltzer shirt and I want to fight whoever made it sound cool
I'm gonna go against the grain here because everyone in this group acts like buying vintage ad merch is some kind of holy grail. I paid $150 for a faded tee with the Alka Seltzer spearing scene on it, from a shop in Portland that swore it was a real 1970s print. Turns out the tag says Gildan, which did not exist until 1984, and the ink started cracking after one wash. So the whole "old commercials are collectible art" thing can miss me, at least when resellers are involved. Did any of you actually get burned on vintage ad clothes, or am I the only one who bought the hype?
Check the stitch count on the hem and side seams first, real 70s tees have single stitch and that Gildan tag was your red flag before you even washed it. Start a chargeback with your card if the shop won't refund, "vintage" listed as 1970s when the tag is 1984+ is straight up fraud.
