Update: my rescue beagle's crate training took 14 weeks because of one dumb mistake
When I adopted my beagle mix Rufus from a shelter in Phoenix last spring, I figured crate training would take maybe two weeks. I put his crate in the laundry room because it was quiet, and for 6 weeks he screamed every single night and I just kept waiting it out like everyone online said to do. Then a trainer friend came over and told me the crate needed to be in the room where I sleep so he could see me, and honestly he was sleeping through the night in 4 days after that. I felt so stupid for not trying that sooner. Has anyone else had a rescue that needed the crate right next to your bed, or did yours do fine in another room?
