I finally figured out why those annoying mattress commercials stuck in my head and it's not the jingle
I've been snarking on those local mattress ads for months now, the ones with the owner yelling prices at the camera in a warehouse off Route 9 in Jersey. Last Tuesday I caught myself humming the dumb phone number jingle while doing dishes and realized the ad had won. The trick is they repeat the same 4 second clip like 6 times in a 30 second spot, so your brain finishes the loop even after it ends. I went back and counted, and the jingle hits exactly 9 times before the logo. Is there a name for this repeat trick, or am I just late to the party on why cheap local ads stick so hard?
