Showerthought: that 1984 Apple ad only aired on TV one single time

I was reading a piece on famous ad campaigns last week and found out the "1984" Apple spot ran nationally just once, during the Super Bowl on January 22, 1984. Somehow I always remembered it as this huge thing that played everywhere for months, but nope, one airing. What's funny is my uncle in Toledo swears he saw it at least five times that winter, so maybe local stations picked it up after. Does anyone know if those later airings actually happened, or is his memory just filling in the blanks?

Had a buddy swear up and down he saw it a bunch too, then found out he was remembering the news coverage about it, not the ad itself. Local spots did pop up here and there after the Super Bowl, so your uncle might have actually caught a real one.
