Rant: My nephew called my favorite 90s jingle 'creepy' and now I can't unhear it
I showed my 14 year old nephew the old Mentos jingle on YouTube yesterday and he just stared at me and said 'why is the guy so intense about a candy.' I laughed at first but then I watched it again and realized he has a point, that guy is basically yelling at a stranger about mints. Now every time I hear a jingle from that era I'm checking if the singer sounds like they need a nap or a hug. Is there a single 90s ad jingle that still holds up without feeling weird, or do we just remember them fondly because we heard them 400 times?
Wait, the Mentos guy was yelling at a stranger? I always thought he was just a guy who really loved mints and had to tell someone. Now I'm picturing him cornering some poor person at a bus stop and I can't stop laughing. The 90s were a wild time for ads, everything was dialed up to 11 for no reason.
