The drain snake that turned me into a minor neighborhood celebrity

Last month my shop's floor drain clogged so bad that water was pooling under the grooming table. I called three plumbers, all booked out a week, so I bought a $35 manual snake from Ace and spent 4 hours in a puddle of dog hair and soap scum. My neighbor filmed my defeated slouch and posted it, next thing I know I'm on the local Facebook page with 12k likes and people calling me 'Drain Warrior.' Now two strangers have asked if I can unclog their tubs, which is not in my job description. Has anyone else's mundane emergency accidentally made them famous in a 5 mile radius?

Three Septembers ago my washing machine flooded the laundry room so bad the water leaked into the garage and ruined a box of old tax papers. My wife posted a video of me trying to bail it out with a plastic cup and a dog bowl. Next thing I know the neighbor two doors down is knocking, asking if I can look at their dryer. Then the mailman says his brother has a sump pump that wont turn on. I fixed a toilet flange for a guy I only knew from the gas station. It never really goes away either, people still bring me their weird appliance problems at block parties.

Did you try putting a pan under it first, @grayc27? That buys you time.
