Saw this guy go from zero to 50k followers in a week because he tripped on camera

There's this dude on TikTok who just fell over a trash can at a gas station near Austin. His video got picked up by some meme page and now he's getting sponsorships. I watched his profile go from 200 followers to over 50,000 in less than 7 days. It wasn't even planned, he just posted it as a joke. Has anyone else seen a similar overnight jump like that happen to someone you know?

Gotta say I used to think you needed some kind of plan or strategy to blow up on social media. Then my buddy's little brother fell off his skateboard in a parking lot and some random account reposted it. Dude had like 100 followers and woke up to 20k the next morning. Its wild how fast it can happen when the algorithm just picks you up. Now he's trying to make more dumb videos on purpose and its not working the same lol.

Read somewhere that trying too hard kills the magic every time.

The whole "trying too hard kills the magic" thing from @the_robin is dead on but I think there's a layer nobody talks about. When that skateboard video got big it was raw and messy, but once he started intentionally chasing that same energy he lost the thing that made it work which is that spark of not caring how it looks. I've seen it with music too, bands that record their first album in a basement with no budget somehow capture lightning, then their label gives them a real studio and everything sounds flat cause they're overthinking every note.
