Rant: That one time I went viral for complaining about a broken mailbox

Three hours of filming and editing a rant about my landlord ignoring my mailbox for six months got 2 million views overnight, but it took me another two weeks to even process why everyone cared so much about my busted mailbox hinge.

You said "mundane broken stuff" and that's exactly what I'm pushing back on here. Is a broken mailbox or a lawn mower really that deep? I get that it's annoying, but people act like these are major life crises. It's a hinge. It's a carburetor. Call a handyman or watch a YouTube video and move on. The whole "we all feel this together" thing feels overblown to me. It's just a broken thing, not a monument to the human condition.

...and the weirdest part is how the algorithm just gloms onto the most random everyday frustration, you know? I had a similar thing happen with a video I made about my lawn mower that wouldn't start after I left gas in it all winter (classic mistake, I know). Like, I spent hours trying to talk about local zoning laws and it got like 300 views, but that stupid mower rant blew up to like 500k because everyone's had that exact moment of rage in their shed. It's honestly kind of a relief though, because it makes you realize how many people deal with the same mundane broken stuff and just need to vent about it.

Totally get it. That solidarity feeling is worth more than the views.
