Overheard two guys at the hardware store arguing about a lawnmower review that went viral
One guy said the reviewer just wanted free stuff but the other pointed out he was just a retired accountant who filmed his grass getting cut, and it got me thinking how random it is that a regular dude complaining about a deck height can rack up 2 million views while some well-made videos barely break 100.

I read something about how the YouTube algorithm LOVES specific, hyper-focused complaints from regular people. That retired accountant guy probably didn't even try to make it interesting, he just pointed his phone at his lawn and said "this deck height is wrong" and it hit that sweet spot where other regular people totally related. Meanwhile those "well-made videos" you mentioned feel like commercials or school projects so nobody trusts them. The whole platform runs on authenticity now, not production value. It's weird but I heard that algorithm actually penalizes polished videos because they test better with the "bored and scrolling" crowd.
