My dog's goofy face ended up on the front page of Reddit and I got 50k followers in a week

So last Tuesday I was just messing around taking pictures of my golden retriever, Gus, while he was sticking his head out the car window with his ears all flopped back. I thought it was cute so I threw it on r/aww not expecting anything, went to bed, and woke up to like 30 notifications. By lunch time it had 80k upvotes and someone had turned it into a meme template. I was just sitting at my desk job in Omaha answering emails while my phone was blowing up with interview requests from news sites. A pet brand reached out and offered me $500 to post a video of Gus eating their treats. I'm not gonna quit my day job or anything, but it's been a wild ride trying to keep up with all the comments asking for more pics. Has anyone else here had their pet randomly blow up and suddenly you're managing a fanbase for your dog?

60k upvotes on a photo of my cat yawned tucked under a blanket and suddenly I had strangers asking me for his paw-tograph, it's like we're all just one lucky picture away from becoming accidental pet influencers.

My 50k followers on Gus totally changed my mind about people who call their pets influencers.
