My dad's grill flare-up made him famous for 4 days, and he still won't talk about it
Two summers back my dad was grilling in our backyard in Boise when the propane line caught and sent a 6 foot flame straight up past the patio roof. My mom filmed 11 seconds of it on her phone and posted it to Facebook mostly so my aunt in Nebraska would stop asking why my dad was yelling. By the next morning it had 40,000 shares, and a local news crew showed up at their house wanting an interview. My dad hid in the garage and made me tell them he was at work, which was a lie so obvious the reporter laughed. People still comment on that video asking if the burgers made it, and they did, he flipped them with a pair of tongs while the hose was burning. Here's my real point though, he never posted another video again and now acts like the whole thing was my mom's fault. Do you think it's fair that the person who goes viral never actually wanted it, or should they just lean in and enjoy it?
The part about your dad blaming your mom doesn't quite add up. She posted it so your aunt would stop asking questions, not to make him famous. He's the one who kept flipping burgers while the hose burned, which is honestly the reason the video blew up. If he'd just run inside, nobody would've shared it 40,000 times. So it seems less like your mom did this to him and more like he did it to himself.
