My cousin's video of a cat falling off a fence got 12 million views in 3 days

Last month my cousin Dave posted a 10 second video of his cat slipping off a wooden fence in his backyard in Phoenix. He just wanted to show our family group chat how clumsy the cat is. Three days later he had 12 million views on TikTok and random people were recognizing him at the grocery store. A news station even called to interview him about it. He didn't do anything special, no fancy editing or catchy music. Just a normal guy whose cat messed up a landing and the internet ate it up. Now he gets weird messages daily from people asking about the cat and a few companies offered him free pet food to promote. Has anyone else had a family member or friend blow up for something this dumb?

His cousin actually did the interview. That part cracked me up because the reporter showed up at his house with a camera crew for something that was literally just a cat falling off a fence. The whole thing was surreal according to Dave. He said the reporter asked him deep questions like "what was the cat thinking at that moment" and "how does this reflect modern internet culture." Dave just laughed the whole time and kept saying the cat is just clumsy and not some genius. It got me wondering though, do you think those media people really believe there is a bigger story behind stuff like this, or are they just desperate for ANY content that gets clicks?

That news station interview part got me curious... did your cousin actually take it seriously and do the interview or did he just laugh it off and hang up?
