My boring grocery receipt made me a local legend, I still don't get it

Last month I posted a blurry photo of my $78.43 receipt from a Kroger in Columbus because the cashier accidentally rang up a bag of ice as "winter survival kit." I just thought it was funny for my three followers. Next thing I know, a local news account picked it up and people were tagging me in meme edits, one guy even made a song about it. I was dead set on deleting the post and hiding, but my wife convinced me to do one follow-up video explaining the mistake, and that flopped harder than the original. Has anyone else had a totally random post blow up that you still can't explain the appeal of?
