Guy at a barbeque still gets free drinks 2 years after a 15 second video

Met a dude last summer who got famous for catching a falling speaker at a wedding with one hand and the clip hit 8 million views. Now every time he walks into a local spot people recognize him and buy him rounds. Has anyone else run into someone whose 15 seconds turned into a weird permanent perk?

My cousin lives in a small town in Ohio and this ONE guy caught a football that was thrown from a helicopter at a county fair and the clip went viral. People still buy his dinner at Denny's like THREE years later. It really shows how once you get that little taste of internet fame it follows you around in weird ways, even if you didn't ask for it. I swear half the people buying him rounds probably don't even remember WHY they recognize him, they just know he's "that guy." It's like society has this weird need to reward people for being briefly entertaining with free stuff. Kinda makes you wonder how many people are coasting on a 10 second clip from 2018.
