Appreciation post: a 9 second video of my dog stole my whole life and now I get free coffee in Chicago
Two years back I posted a clip of my dog Doug failing to catch a treat for the 40th time, mostly so my brother in Chicago would stop bugging me for dog pics. It got 8 million views in a week and suddenly strangers were mailing me hats for him. Back then I was just a guy who walked him at 6am and went to my job at a print shop. Now I do three brand deals a month and a coffee place on Milwaukee Ave gives me free drinks just to sit outside with him. Last Tuesday a woman asked Doug for a selfie and completely ignored me, which honestly felt right. Has anyone else had a pet go viral and did the fame ever fade, or am I stuck doing this until he retires?
