TIL the guy at the ABQ Growers Market told me my green chile plants were getting too much love and not enough tough
Stopped at the Downtown Growers Market on Saturday and got to chatting with an older farmer who has been selling starts there for years. I mentioned my two chile plants dropped most of their blossoms in July and I had been watering them every single morning plus feeding them once a week. He laughed and said I was basically drowning them in kindness, that chile likes to struggle a bit and I should cut back to every 3 or 4 days and skip the food all together. I tried it for the last 3 weeks and I have 11 pods coming in now, which is more than I got all last summer. Made me rethink how I treat the rest of my garden too. Anyone else here been overwatering their chile and had someone call them out?
