TIL my backyard drain fix was a bigger job than I thought
Was unclogging a backed-up drain off San Pedro last Saturday and hit a root ball the size of a basketball. Had to rent a power auger from Home Depot for $65 and it still took two hours to clear.

OH man FOR REAL you dodged a bullet there. I read somewhere that roots can grow into pipes through the tiniest crack and then just EXPLODE into a massive clog. Sounds like you caught it before it turned into a full yard dig.

Man, I gotta say I think you got off easy for $65. Around here youd be lucky to rent one of those things for under a hundred on a weekend. And two hours? Thats nothing. Ive seen guys spend all day digging up a yard trying to find where the roots got in. Sounds like you caught it before it really became a disaster.
