The old Bosque trail bridge near Alameda finally got replaced last month
I've been walking that stretch for about 8 years now. That wooden bridge was so rotten in spots you could see the river through the gaps. They closed it for 2 weeks in September and put in a concrete one. My question is - does anyone know if they salvaged any of the old lumber? I'd love to make something out of it.

If its anything like what they did on the north diverson channel, they probably hauled it off to the county yard for disposal. Best bet is to call the Bosque trail office and ask if they have a dumpster or pile they haven't cleared yet, sometimes they let people grab it before it gets trashed.

Yeah that sounds about right, I've had to deal with this kind of thing a few times myself. Usually the crews are quick to haul it off because they don't want people picking through it for liability reasons. I'd call the Bosque trail office first thing in the morning and just ask real friendly if they have a pile they haven't touched yet. If you catch them before they get to the dump, they might even let you grab a load or two. What kind of stuff were you hoping to salvage anyway?

You ever try calling them before they even get started? Sometimes if you catch the right person at the Bosque trail office, they'll let you grab what you need before the cleanup crew even shows up. I saw a guy once talk them into letting him take a whole truckload of old fence posts that were slated for the dump. Just a friendly ask can go a long way.
