Ran into a guy at the Flying Star on Lomas who changed how I think about neighborhood pests
He was an old timer having coffee and said most folks spray for the wrong bugs because they don't know what actually lives in their yard. He told me to look at soil type first before buying any chemicals, has anyone else heard that trick?

That soil type tip is actually legit since different bugs literally live in different dirt.

And yeah that's the thing people don't realize... you can't just treat every patch of ground the same. If you're dealing with cutworms they're gonna be up near the surface in that loose loamy soil, but if you got grubs you gotta dig deeper cause they follow the roots down. I've had way more luck just matching my bait depth to the dirt type rather than guessing. Saves a ton of time and frustration honestly.
