Just found out the Albuquerque BioPark is one of the oldest zoos in the Southwest

I was reading a plaque at the zoo yesterday and it said it opened in 1927. I always thought it was way newer than that! Does anyone know any other cool old spots around town like that?

Wait, the KiMo opened in 1927 too? That's nuts they built two huge places like that in the same year. Makes you wonder what the big deal was back then.

Yeah, 1927 is wild. Have you checked out the KiMo Theatre downtown? It opened the same year and still has all that crazy Pueblo Deco architecture inside. They even do tours sometimes so you can see the original lobby and hear the ghost stories.

Definitely book the tour if you can. The regular shows are fun but you only get to see the main theater. The tour takes you backstage and up to the old projection booth, which is where the real history is. They point out all the little details you would totally miss on your own, like the hidden native symbols in the plaster work. Just make sure you check their website because the tour days change with their show schedule.
